Robert William Winters Jr.

WINTERS, Robert William Jr. of Springfield passed away December 10, 2011. He was born in Ellicott City, MD. On April 15, 1934, the son of Rev. Robert & Helen (Boggs) Winters. Bob graduated from Capital University with a BA degree. While at Capital he met Kay Clark. They were married on June 10, 1956.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving our country during the Vietnam War as a pilot. Bob received the Distinguished Flying Cross plus other awards and designations for flying missions in Vietnam.

After his discharge from the Air Force, Bob flew commercial airlines, retiring in 1994. He was an avid flyer and enjoyed restoring antique aircraft. Bob was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. and the Flying Angels at the New Carlisle Airport.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Kay; three sons, Michael (Shawn), William (Elise), and David (Jane); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia & Sylvia; and a brother, Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents and a loving daughter, Michelle, Minuck.

Visitation will be held December 15th from 4-7 PM at Adkins Funeral Home, 7055 Dayton Road, Enon. Funeral service will be on Dec. 16th at 11:00 AM in the Bethel Lutheran Church (2731 W. Jackson Road, Springfield) where Bob was a member, with burial service following in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in memory of Bob.
